The Consumable Buyer / Planner reports to the Purchasing Manager and provides full support to the Materials and Assembly Departments, including the planning and procurement of consumable items in a timely manner while ensuring vendor requirements and customer needs are met. The Consumable Buyer / Planner position will work directly with Materials, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to satisfy requirements needed within each department.

- Create and implement an effective planning and sourcing strategy for assigned products / programs to minimize unnecessary inventory, maximize cash flow, and ensure the production lines are always sufficiently supplied.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to include standard terms and conditions as well as complex customer flow downs.
- Ensure the purchase of all goods and services comply with company policy and procedures and are in full compliance with all ITAR regulations.
- Maintain accurate item master data lead times, batch size, safety stock target, to ensure 100% system data accuracy at all times.
- Assess material requirements and analyze price and supply data to make business decisions to maximize cashflow.
- Manage consumable inventory levels and order per approved budget.
- Create requisitions for all items and materials required that are outside of the approved consumable budget.
- Issue Purchase Orders for materials and services, usually with established vendors.
- Issue consumable parts to Assembly and Engineering departments via parts requests.
- Manage SDS sheets and labels on products consumed in the assembly areas.
- Assure that open purchase orders are tracked, followed up on and expedited as needed, communicate status.
- Coordinate the flow of materials from goods receipt to assembly floor.
- Process purchased parts rejected through Material Review Board (MRB) or the requisitioner for immediate replacement /credit as deemed necessary.
- Assist Accounts Payable and Receiving departments with reconciling packing slip discrepancies including part or quantity issues.
- Assist the Quality Dept. with upkeep and additions to the ASL.
- Assist with creating and renewing Wilcox / Supplier Non-Disclosure Agreements.
- Reviews safety procedures and follows them, making suggested improvements.
- Promotes safety awareness.
- Seeks opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Uses PPE appropriately.

Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, or related discipline is required.
- Must have a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience in purchasing or planning
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be very organized, detail-oriented and have the capacity to work on multiple issues simultaneously
- Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize tasks and priorities in accordance with company needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Wilcox is a U.S. government defense contractor, and this position is responsible to control access to export-controlled technology. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access U.S. government-controlled technology prior to beginning work.
- APICS / NAPM Certification
- Familiarity with SAP B1 software
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics, finance, engineering, or related discipline
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Repeating motions that include wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
